I love this Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie for lighter breakfasts, and it’s packed with antioxidants and greens as well!

I’ve been making green smoothies from the classic strawberry-banana combo for a while. However, they’ve always been the most unappealing brownish-pink color. You may have seen me make them over on Insta Stories , but I’ve never been able to bring myself to take photos of them.
I just couldn’t figure out how to make a brown smoothie look at all appetizing, even if they’re super delicious. But then I started adding Hawaiian spirulina powder to my smoothies, and that solved the problem. Spirulina adds so much green color, that my brown smoothies became green, and definitely better looking all around!

I like to use frozen strawberries for this smoothie because they’re available year round. But whenever you have fresh ones, you can use them as well.
Smoothie tip #1: Always use something frozen! This keeps the smoothie from getting warm while blending. And I find the both the texture and flavor to be better as well.
So if you’re using fresh strawberries, try using frozen banana instead. Or you can always add ice cubes. But if you do use ice, it essentially waters down the flavor of your smoothie.

Tips for how to make this Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie
- Start with the liquid and the fresh ingredients at the bottom.
- Then add the frozen ingredients in next. This helps everything to blend better with less chance of things getting stuck.
- And finally pile the greens on top!

Smoothie tip #2: Blend until it’s actually smooth, which usually takes around 1 minute in a high powered blender . A really smooth texture really enhances your smoothie experience. This is another reason to use something frozen in every smoothie. Blending for 1 minute will heat up your smoothie if all your ingredients are room temperature.

Smoothie tip #3: Smoothies have the best flavor right away, especially green smoothies. So I always try and drink them as soon as I make them. So if you’d like to prep ahead, try making my freezer smoothie packs . Or you can also assemble what you’ll need where it’s easy to get to. For instance, I have frozen strawberries at the top of my freezer. And for any extras, (like spirulina) I like to add to my smoothies, I keep them all in one place near my blender . That way everything comes together quickly!

And finally, I hope you enjoy this as much as we have! If you do make it, I hope you’ll leave me a comment/rating below. And I always love hearing from you here, and over on Instagram where you can tag me at #getinspiredeveryday with your photos.
