This DIY Pumpkin Spice Whipped Body Butter will leave your skin incredibly smooth!

This body butter is my solution the fact we’ve been having such a chilly fall that it might as well be winter. I mean… it was 7ºF the other morning, and my skin has noticed to say the least!
We live in a fairly dry climate, but even more so in the colder months. So when the weather turns colder every year, I notice in my skin right away. Gone are the balmy days of summer, and hello dry skin!

Another reason I’ve been wanting to making a new body butter is I’ve been wanting to try out shea butter. I’ve always used cocoa butter in the past, like my Lemon Creamy Body Butter . But everyone always talks about how great shea butter is for your skin.
And now I’m one of those people raving about how awesome shea butter is! I love how it so easily absorbs and leaves my skin deeply moisturized without feeling greasy. It’s been particularly great for my hands which take a lot of abuse in the form of cooking and non-stop dishes for recipe testing !

How to make DIY Pumpkin Spice Whipped Body Butter:
- Melt the shea butter over low heat.
- Remove it from the stove and add the oils and essential oils
- Whisk the mixture over an ice bath until it’s emulsified and has turned white, (see photo below). The mixture will be slightly thickened, but not fluffy yet.
- Pour the body butter into a mixer bowl and refrigerate for about 15 minutes. Using a whip attachment, beat the mixture for 3-5 minutes, or until fluffy.
- Place the finished butter into a container for use, and use within a few months.

Tips for whipped body butter:
- If you find your body butter isn’t getting fluffy, you need to refrigerate it some more. Once it’s cooled enough, it will whip and stay fluffy.
- Try using a pumpkin spice essential oil blend to simplify things. I just happened to have all these oils already, so that was the easiest solution for me. But if you don’t have a large stock on hand, buying a blend might be the easiest, and definitely more affordable option.

What to use for storage:
- I usually use small mason jars, either the 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup wide mouthed jars.
- Any extra cute jar is great for gifts as well. Try looking for fun containers at places like TJ Maxx or Target. I personally like the look of anything with a clasp. This jar here in my DIY Deodorant post is a great example of what I’m trying to describe. (I found it at TJ Maxx.)

I hope you’ll enjoy the ultra moisturizing nature of this body butter as much as I have as the weather turns cooler.
